Creating the Shabby Chic look in your home!

The Shabby Chic look is becoming more popular throughout Australian homes. A shabby chic look refers to furniture that has the appearance of aging with a vintage aesthetic. Commonly the shabby chic look is made with distressed wood. Shabby chic is used to make a vintage or timeless theme within your home; usually made from light tones such as caramels, ivories, golds, blues, pinks and light greens. The shabby chic look creates elegance with minimal effort.

The shabby chic style started in Britain and reflects the old country with new contemporary styles. The look of old country style homes have vintage faded furniture, aged paintings and old wooden floors, not to mention the stunning materials of the Victoriana era and the quirky tea pot sets of the mid 1900’s.

Below are some handy tips on how to make your bedroom, living room or garden area have the shabby chic look.

The next item you should consider is another larger furniture piece like a dressing table or a seat such as this chic French style leather seat (left.)
